Entertainment for less weather at the beach, on the mountain tops, amusment parks or just in your back yard is something we all look forward to. Finding entertainment for less may seem impossible, but we have found some amazing things.
Anything from food, fuel, excursions, tips and even speciality clothing a vacation can add up. Even having a cook out in the back yard can be costly. We all need down time, fun time, family time ande we work hard. Our lives should not be just about work. Saving a little here and there can make a huge difference in the type of vacation you can have with a lot less worry in the end. Finding The Destination of Your Dreams
My favorite destination is in the Rocky Mountains, We have roughed it many times, but as I get older, need more comfort. The fuel is a big cost for us because we drive about 18 hours, usually straight through. Sometimes we stay in a motel on the way. I don’t like to spent the money for that night because if we drive through the night by morning we are arriving at the edge of the mountains, that is if we leave in the early evening from Oklahoma.
Sometimes we take a jeep of our own, but there are many places to rent Jeeps. We stay in a tent some of the time because we find some of the most beautiful views, and we don’t want to leave. We do stay in cabins, air B&Bs and so on. My Husband and I love those vacations where we just wing it. Sometimes we do plan out parts of it to assure our cabin. The Rocky Mountains are a Destination of My Dreams. I often think of it and and hopefully will return
We always take and ice chest with food, especially if we don’t catch fish. There are not too many places to stop and eat in the mountains. All of these things added up can be very costly so I was so happy to fine this Membership we all need. It is not just for entertainment. This is a membership we can use on just about everything.
Estes Park, Colorado
Estes Park, Colorado is one place I visited. It is in Northern Colorado at the base of the Rocky Mountain National Park. As we entered the town I Love it right away, it was so full of fun little shops, and my eye caught the candy apple store. I Knew I had to have one! As I went in there were so many differnt apple with so many differnet toppings. We were even able to watch them make the apples which was a fun experience. I got two, my husband doesn’t like them, but to me they are heavenly! Eating a whole one was impossible so I cut it into slices and eat a little along on out trip to make it last longer.
There are so many places to stay. Our motel had several outdoor fire pits to sit around in the evening, they even gave us a complentry bag with stuff to make our own s’mores. The fire felt very nice because even though it was October in the Mountains at night it still get chilly.
ELK
Elk everywhere. We are like small children and get excited just to see one elk, but we seen maybe 500! Yes that is correct. We were there just after mating season or many at the edge of it. Once the season is over and Winter is just about to set in the Elk come right down into the town. They are everywhere. We found a golf park and seen about one hunred elk there. They did buggle a few times for us and we also saw a big older Elk go over and warn two younger elk starting to fight. We kept our distance from them, but many did not.
That night we drove to a place to eat close to another golf club park and that is when we saw hundreds moving in the park, There were some huge bull elk and many cows. We decided to just drive aroud the town and look. Elk were all over the neighborhoods. I know some of the people that live there may not like them in their yards eating whatever they want, but if was thrilling for me and I know my husband was just as thrilled, even though you know how some men are they don’t show it as much.
Rocky Mountains
The drive throught the Rocky Mountain Park is a great day of fun. There are many side roads, so you coulde really spend more time than one day in the park. Many people hike, but there is no campling allowed. I have seen a bear and a goat once and we do see deer and elk just about everytime.
It is a beautiful place to picnic and just sit out on a blanket and breath in the clean mountain air and even though there are many people traveling through there it is still very peaceful. You can find many places where there are not so many people. I love the peace that it brings to me. It is always a well remembered vacation for me.
