Help! I have never flown in an airplane. This is a phrase that will cause many to raise their eyebrows at me. I’m not really afraid, I just haven’t had the opportunity to travel where I need to fly. I love driving across the country looking at everything and stopping at all the unique place the United States has to offer. You can discover so many things, that you will never discover if you are flying.
I like to take all the old country roads and highways also instead of the interstate Highways and bipasses. I like to look at homes, flowers, trees, buildings and much more. A good drive to take is the famous Route 66. You will see many unique things and old architecture along the way. When I do fly somewhere, I am sure I will like to look out the window and see the clouds!
Flying In An Airplane Can Be Frightening
Like I said I have never flown before, but I am willing. However I do have some concerns about flying. I have heard some scary things that make me anxious about flying. My mother flew to Mexico on a mission trip when she was in her sixties, it was her first flight. She had people to help her with everything and get boarded. They were not far from Mexico when she looked out her window and noticed the wing of the plane was on fire! Yes the plane was on fire, not a good expierence fro the first flight. The bad thing was she had to get back home on another plane, so she was uneasy about the whole thing.
Believe it or not She did take another flight years later from Alabama to Texas and she looked out and saw smoke coming from the wing! What are the odds. She has decided she really didn’t want to fly again. I do know she will be flying again to Alaska to go on a cruise. I hope everything runs smooth for her. These may not be the kind of stories you want to hear if you have never flown. You really don’t hear about too many planes crashing.

- I am always an earlybird and it is wise to arrive at least 2 hours early for domestic flights and more for international flight. It can take time to check in and go throught security and also find your gate and some airports are huge.
- Next you will need to check in you bags. You will do this at the airline’s check-in-counter. Your luggage will be weighed and baggages tags will be printed.
- Security will be next and you will have to remove your shoes an, your electronics will be checked, liquids and any metal will be checked.
At the Gate
- To find your gate you will look for signs and your gate number will be on your boarding pass or airport monitors.
- The gate attendants will call all the passengers to board by groups orzones. Have your pass ready and listen for your group to be called.
On the Plane
- You will need to find your seat and they are usually labeled.
- Now it is time for take off where you will feel the most movement durring take off and landing. Your ears may feel the pressure change and some chew gum to relieve this.
- Now you need to follow the rules such as staying seated and using your seatbelt when the light is on. The rules are for you safety.
