Oil Painting My Stress Reliever

Oil Painting my stress reliever is a true statement! I absolutely love to Oil paint or just about any kind of painting. Anything to do with arts and crafts I am up for. Each week I Try to make time for painting, because I know how it makes me feel. Everyone needs a hobby that brings them pleasure.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

When I was 12 years old, I had the opportunity to take Oil Painting lessons from an amazing lady. Her Name was Lynn Campbell. She developed polio and ended up in an iron lung to survive. Her dad made her a tool to hold a paint brush in her mouth and she started oil painting. She sold many paintings and Wrote a wonderful book “First through a Glass Darkly” It is a small paperback book but packed with so much courage. It is such an inspirational book to read. I have read it several time throughout the years.

MY PAINTING JOURNEY Started here

When I started painting I was such a shy girl and though taking the painting lessons was fun, I was very nervous, so no stress relief for me then. The basics things I learned was how to mix color, color wheel and most of all a big mess! I would have so much paint on my canvas it was like cake icing. I didn’t get to really paint or take lessons after high-school because I was working and didn’t really have the money. Eventually I realized I could paint on my own and have taught lessons myself. It was so relaxing to paint and I liked to do it alone. It really did reduce my stress! Here are a few paintings I have done:

Below are a few pictures I have painted on Old milk cans, Painted cans with rust resistant paint to keep from rusting anymore. The pictures are painted with acrylic paint then sprayed with polyurethane. There are also some pickle jars I painted for a friend.

These are just a few things I have lined up to paint and one I have started. I look for unique things to paint on, stuff no one really wants and then they want!

I’m still working on this long horn. I just need to find more time to paint. Like I said doing something you love can reduce the stress.

Stress seems to be the one thing that I work on because it can cause some many health issues. There are so many thing to harm us thing we many not be aware I found some protection here of something I only recently realized was harming me. You many not be a painter, but find that something that is good for your soul and reduce some stress.
